I feel like I have constantly been writing about the black mass to take place in Kansas on Friday, March 28th outside the Capitol Building- and there’s good reason for that.
We know from Scripture, Tradition, and the Saints that spiritual combat is constantly raging around us. We also know that, within the limits that God places, Satan and his minions never fight fair and look to humiliate the servants of God.
This is happening rather blatantly today as the Satanic Grotto gave quotes to news outlets about the day’s events. I don’t want to publish anything that they said in this article, but here is a link to a write-up on what will be happening. To sum it up, it’s exactly what all Christians are adamantly opposed to.
I don’t want to focus too much on the activities of the Enemy. It’s enough to know that he is striking against us, and we need the grace of God to counter Satan. We should rather focus on prayer and fasting, turning to Our Lord, Our Lady, and a saint that has experience with praying for the spiritual condition of entire countries- Padre Pio.
An Assessment of the Situation
The United States is by no means perfect. Human trafficking is at an all-time high, the country is one of the top producers of pornography, it’s performing abortions at an alarming rate, etc. Essentially, this black mass is perhaps God’s way of showing us citizens the moral deterioration that our country is undergoing.
We know from Scripture that God will often strike His people with a physical manifestation of a spiritual ailment, like the Bronze Serpent incident in Numbers, for example (Numbers 21:4-9). Not because He is ruthless, but as a mercy to bring us back into right relationship with Him.
Padre Pio wrote about this very idea to his spiritual directees,
“Ah, may all the nations afflicted. . . understand the mystery of the pacific wrath of the Lord!. . . If He turns their poisonous joys into bitterness. . . the reason is that He loves them still. . . The greatest mercy of God is not to let those nations remain in peace with each other who are not in peace with God.”1
In short, we get what we deserve. So, the only solution is to turn back to God. Use prayer and fasting, pray the rosary, go to Mass and Adoration- whatever it takes! We know that we can intercede on behalf of anyone, even those performing this sacrilege themselves.
We turn now to Padre Pio, who learned how to properly appeal to the mercy of God in such dire circumstances.
“May it please this God of goodness, who is rightly enraged with our country, to behave as a loving father and not as a righteous judge, as we deserve only too well. In the excess of His love for His creatures, may He change the punishment itself into a wholesome cleansing for all of us.”2
In this most dire of circumstances, evil can be countered by the faithful. We can offer prayer and sacrifice in reparation for this sacrilege in Kansas, and those graces can be used by God for a greater good.
May Our Lady, the one who crushes the head of Satan, pray for us.
May Padre Pio, the powerful intercessor for nations that offend God, pray for us.
And may Almighty God have mercy on us and give the graces necessary to counter-attack this work of the enemy.
